Course Description
Every organization is subject to the volatility of the environment in which it operates. Taught by a business leader in strategy and innovation, this course will help you to develop a thoughtful framework to deal with ever-changing environments. In order to advance the organization, leaders must understand the environmental context as well as the actions and opportunities available to them as they consider the future of their organization and industry. As museum education directors, it is critical that you not only understand the industry environment, but also the broader context of the world in which your audiences operate. This understanding will enable you to develop programs that are more meaningful, more engaging, and therefore, more valuable to your institution and your audiences. Using strategic, innovation, and sensemaking principles you will engage with and experience the environmental context in which your organization operates and the implications on your audiences and the programs.

Mr. Needles currently serves as Vice President of Engagement and Student Experience at Montgomery County Community College. During his time with the College, Mr. Needles has provided leadership and support for multiple strategic initiatives at the College including operational launch of the Culinary Arts Institute and Virtual Campus, grant-supported efforts sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and development and launch of the College’s eSports program and Global Academy platform. Mr. Needles has been a national presenter at EDUCAUSE, Achieving the Dream, AACRAO, and AACC conferences, and has also co-published multiple writings.
