Course Description

Taught by the esteemed Tammy Bluhm, CFO of the Nelson-Atkins, this course will lay the foundation for confident financial decision-making by increasing your awareness of costs to an organization, cost forecasting, budgeting and performance evaluation. While education directors are fluent in budgeting and maintaining a balanced budget for your span of responsibility, this course will elevate your skillset and help you to think of new projects and initiatives in terms of the financial impact on the organization. You will be exposed to budgeting essentials like balance sheets, the Balanced Scorecard, and capital budgeting techniques, and cost-analysis strategies through a deeper understanding of cost behavior and forecasting. You will be exposed to tools financial decision makers use to evaluate key decisions made by museums and how those decisions can influence future projects and initiatives.
