Course Description

This course is the 2nd of a two-course series for practicing teachers.

The purpose of this course is to support teachers and other educators at Stafford County Public Schools in the development of knowledge and skills in online teaching. During this course, teachers will work to transition a new or existing course into an online course while applying technology tools available at Stafford Schools and integrating pedagogical strategies that align with best practices in online teaching.

Course Outline

 

Write in the present tense using academic, marketing-oriented language with a limit of approximately 80 words. Focus on what students can expect to learn, including new concepts, research, and Standards/benchmarks.

The purpose of this course is to support teachers and other educators at Stafford County Public Schools in the development of knowledge and skills in online teaching. During this course, teachers will work to transition a new or existing course into an online course while applying technology tools available at Stafford Schools and integrating pedagogical strategies that align with best practices in online teaching.

Within this course, you will experience being a student in a virtual environment using the pedagogical and instructional design practices that you will be learning about throughout the course. It will help you better understand and relate to what your students experience when learning online as well as provide an opportunity to determine what might work best for you and your students as you design your own virtual course.

Learner Outcomes

Establish foundational knowledge of effective online course design.

Develop and apply SCPS Virtual Learning Framework, as well as other teaching approaches and strategies that can be used to design online courses to include an online course framework, interactive and engaged learning activities, and assessments for learning.

Examine the importance of a community of learners, accessibility, and inclusivity in the context of your own online course development
